Luca Colajanni – one of the unsung heroes of F1

February 4, 2010

Luca waits patiently while the Prof waves his hands around

Byron Young of the Daily Mirror has been regularly tweeting on the Valencia test. His last tweet, as everyone was packing up to go, was that Luca Colajanni the Head of the Ferrari Press Office was still in the media room – Byron commented that at Ferrari racing is a way of life, not just a job. Never has a truer word been tweeted.

You will probably be familiar with Luca, he is often the Ferrari spokesperson on the TV coverage, explaining patiently why or why not a particular event had occurred. Byron’s tweet made me reflect on all the help I’ve enjoyed from Luca over the years in getting interviews for both the 2004 and 2009 editions of the book. He has always done all he can to help us get the inputs we need, despite constantly juggling many other demands on this time. The last time we were at Maranello we took some pictures of Luca in his office, we weren’t able to use them in the book, so I thought I’d post one here, as a tribute to one of F1’s unsung heroes.
